Wonder why there are laws restricting animal availability?

I agree, but I think the officer was trying to just leave and not be rude. He even said he doesn't like snakes so I highly doubt he knows proper husbandry and such. The thing that gets me the most is that that cop seems ok with how he keeps the snakes, and will call him if he needs a snake removed.
No, those were NOT Burmese Pythons. All of the snakes shown were Common Boa Constrictors. The only place that the Burms have proven invasive and caused any problems at all is in the extreme southern part of Florida. They cannot survive, let alone propagate, any further north due to the winters being too cold for this highly tropical species. Other than the fact that the guy had too many young Boas in that one cage, and the lack of substrate in the cage with the two adult Boas, I have no problem with how he was keeping them. I use newspapers for substrate for my large snakes myself, since it's cheap, it's clean and easy to clean up. Snake keepers maintained snakes on newspaper long before anyone got the idea to sell aspen shavings or all those other commercially available reptile bedding, most of which is too expensive to use for any large-scale snake keeping unless you have a cheap wholesale source. The thing which bothered ME the most was the guy himself; when he said something about "hypnotizing" snakes that he found, that automatically sent my "fruitcake" alarm off! Anyone who knows snakes knows that you can't hypnotize a snake, nor can a snake hypnotize a human! The snakes appeared to be in good condition, though, with clean cages and nice coloration, not dulled by lack of proper care. Even the hardwood-floored cage could have been treated with a sealant which can be used to make clean-up easy and protect the animals. The cages looked to be well-made, complete with locks.I agree, but I think the officer was trying to just leave and not be rude. He even said he doesn't like snakes so I highly doubt he knows proper husbandry and such.
Also, I'm no snake expert but aren't the last two snakes has Burmese Pythons? I could be wrong but aren't they an invasive species that causes a lot of problems?
