I'm having some trouble finding reputable dealers that preferably have normal black rat snakes, or Vietnamese blue beauty snakes.

(Pantherophis obsoletus/Pantherophis alleghaniensis) and (Orthriophis taeniurus callicyanous) respectively.

While I found a certain online vendor that has these animals, research into their company reveals a scammer or at the very least a dealer in sick animals.

That said what are your recommendations for online reptile dealers, and which ones have you had good experience with? I'd like to expand my knowledge base of proper breeders

I don't think a lot of breeders are working with these animals, so CBB will be few and far between. As a result, most specimens for sale are wild caught/imports and they have a lot of the associated problems (parasite load, dehydration, stress, etc). They're not really high dollar animals, so not a lot of the well known and respected businesses spend the time to treat and rehab them if they do even sell them. Your best bet would probably be to try and locate a smaller, passionate breeder who works with these and try to acquire a CBB specimen or an established LTC. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any myself, but I'm sure there are a few.

I believe Reptile Rapture does or used to breed different rat snakes. If not, maybe they could steer you in the right direction.

Check on morphmarket also

So reptile rapture and morph market appear reputable. Just getting a list of reputable dealers will be good enough.

Good to know.

I can understand why black rat snakes may not be common, but the Vietnamese blue beauty snakes are quite stunning

Thanks for the input.

I know Matt from Olympus Reptiles deals mostly in ball pythons and rattlers, but I think if you can glean some info from him I'm sure he has a lead to some reputable distributers if not personal breeders. He goes to reptile shows fairly often.

MM is a classified site, where anyone can sell. Reputability is not at all guaranteed. Not even close.

I don't know NW rats, but for OW I'd check in with Amy Zerkle or Matthew Most. Scrolling the ratsnake ads on Fauna will lead you to their accounts there.

OP, you're using 'dealer' and 'breeder' somewhat interchangably, it seems, which in the reptile world isn't a reliably good idea. Purchasing from the latter is by far the recommended way to go.

MorphMarket is a classifieds with many different sellers. Most of them are reputable but you have to do your own research on them. There are Black Rats on MM and it seems Reptile Rapture works with Blue Beauty Snakes
