I spend hundreds of hours out on my bike trying to catch a fleeting glimpse of the local wildlife, often failing miserably. Then go out and look in the yard this morning and...

That's a healthy looking Tokay! They really are impressive looking geckos that look nothing like the sickly imports we get in. Is that a Chrysopelea of some sort, maybe ornata? Beautiful no matter what it is. I wish I had more wildlife near me, I see feral cats, european starlings and the occasional skunk. =(

Good call! Chrysopelea ornata or golden tree snake or flying snake. Very common around here.
One chunky tokay. Maybe a foot long. Horny as all heck, sometimes waking me up at night with his yelling. Got his tail chomped at one time it appears.
Skunks are cool. Recipe for revenge. Catch skunk in humane trap. Wait 24 hours for it to calm down a bit. Carry trap on end of long pole. Place in victims car. Rap sharply and startlingly on the windows a few times. Remove trap and release skunk. Avoid the neighborhood for a few months.

And today, a few inches from where the tokay was...

and this little snake in the grass. Sneaks out for 24 hours once and pfftb. Loads our life up with skinks. (For 9 months old she's a very good mommy, but still a reprobate reptile in my book.)

Calotes mystaceus! Another thing I love. I'm so much better at identifying snakes/reptiles than I am insects, haha. I love the call of male tokays, but I can't imagine that being a sound to wake up to. That cat looks healthy and happy, even with all those little ones! The kitten on the far left looks a bit purple, a little bit of photoshop and you could have yourself some internet fame with a purple cat. =)

I won't need to photoshop the kitten on the left. The coloration of it's face instantly caused me to name it Gnarly. It's coloration is unique. I wouldn't say ugly because it's just so strange you aren't sure it is even a cats face. I'll try to post a pic when it gets a little bigger. That is the one I plan on keeping.
