I just read the now closed article on G rosea, and I found it interesting to realise that these come from the southern hemisphere, and so naturally their seasons are reversed to mine! Also when we keep them indoors we remove the cues whern night falls by having our lights on till bedtime.
So I thought about the idea of recreating the winter cycle by perhaps covering the tank in the early evening from say September to march with something like a dark sheet.
I do this with a plant I have(Kalanchoe) which also comes from a southern hemispere habitat and wont normally flower unless this is done.

Unless you G. rosea is wild caught then it does not know about seasons. If if has outside light it will adjust to yearly cycles. if it does not they seem to be well.

light is important to tarantulas. I notice that most of my have there "time" all of my h. lividum will come out about a hour before sunset to clean there tunnels. They all do it. Not is not needed but it helps.
