I was shmakin down on some ravioli and decided to cut one in half and give it to the hisser colony, is this okay? (obviously not as a food supply or replacement) they seam to REALLY like it I usually feel regular greens veggies and dog food for protein.

It’s edible for people I don’t see why roaches can’t . I’ve given them burger before and they ate it . My Dubias will eat. Practically anything.. ℹ mostly feed fruit / veggies but occasionally protein.

Just because something is safe for humans doesn't necessarily mean it's safe for invertebrates. I prefer to play it on the safe side.

Look up ingredients for any new foods being considered.

Good point. Ravioli and similar has very concentrated gluten not found in natural environments.

@HooahArmy What's the LD50 for gluten concentrate in invertebrates, give or take.
Crawling back under my rock now. Actually, we're talking about a strong semi soluable adhesive in the concentrated form that easily causes anaphylaxis when coating the intestines in mammals.

I totally forgot the guy to check the ingredients in the ravioli, I’ve heard people who kept hissers feed them bizarre stuff I don’t feed my orange heads or Dubias . One guy said he gave his colony a mouse 🐁.. best to avoid-anything not natural or stick to fruit /veggies . I’m not-sure if hissers eat grains.

There was one species of Blattodea found in New York City that was eating the plastic insulation on wires in TV sets.
Not much they won’t eat , however my orange hat roaches are picky eaters . They don’t eat a lot of stuff dubia do . Eublaberus posticus

the high gluten is noted and i dont plan on feeding them anything other than organic materials. they cleared it out faster than ive seen them eat anything though

My colony has grew in size and is doing really well
My orange head roaches exploded In population . I gotta keep track of their growth speed. My dubia roaches will eat about anything.
