aw, so precious! when I had my rats, I'd just do a quick bath, I never thought about letting them play in the water! looks like a fun time was had by all!

um, rats are like cats, they clean themselves. your rats are probly NOT having a good time at all (soap in the eyes).......:embarrassed:

They do clean themselves, but they also pee on themselves, and sometimes get into things that make them dirty, and it doesn't hurt to bathe them occassionally. Rats do enjoy playing in water. I had to give my girls baths occassionally because they were hairless and their skin got pretty dirty sometimes.

I've said it before I'll say it again, cats aren't clean. They're totally covered in cat spit.;)

Cute pics! Thanks for sharing. I used to bathe my rats and guinea pigs in kitten shampoo. What do you use?

Its tear free baby shampoo. It perfectly normal and harmless to bathe rats. They are males so they get a bath every couple of months because they get a very strong musky smell to them. Plus they get pee all over their tails and it starts to look gross. No they don't like baths at all but they are soooo funny in the bath I just had to take some pictures to share.
