I will be getting 4 scorplings very soon, I was wondering if there was a good chance atleast one is female but cannot find if there's a known ratio of each sex per batch, I'd be delighted if I ended up with two pairs but me and luck aren't the best of friends 😅 anyway, does anyone have an idea?

There's a decent chance. When I want to be sure, I buy 5-10 depending on price. Only thing you can do is wait.

I had the choice of 4 scorplings for just under £300 or one definite pair for £300, figured the 4 was a better choice if I can guarantee atleast one of each as I don't mind waiting for them to mature. Thankyou for your response I have a week to change my mind so I'll keep checking back 😊

Is the intention to breed them? if they are slow grower types, maybe the definite pair (adults i assume) would be the best way to go?

like with anything no guarantees. Unless the species is parthenogenic...then it doesn't matter lol

What species is this? And im curious how they determine the sexes for the 300 pair.. if they can do it that easy it seems kinda scummy charging that much extra

I'm intending on breeding but I'm in no rush. The 2 years I'd wait for mature scorps doesn't bother me. The 300 pair are already a mature breeding pair so have already been sexed and bred successfully hence the price difference, I'd be paying for the confirmation of one definite pair, sorry I didn't state that earlier, I'm a busy bee atm

Funny you say that, I've been looking at Urophonius granulatus recently! I've never had a parthenogenetic scorp before and they look fascinating
