Rat Problems

I'm currently taking care of my girlfriends rats becaues she couldn't keep them anymore, so I offered to take them. There are two of them, and the one seems to have a broken tail. Orginally it was just cut up and we thought it was the other rat just beating her up. But it goes all the way around and I thought I was the wheel. Well it turns out it is the wheel. When I was watering the spiders I heard it literally screaming and saw it on the wheel. I really didn't get a good look to see if its tail was actually caught but the wound goes all the way around and it is bent in one direction. Like this -----___----- I don't know what to do. The other rat seems fine with the wheel, and I can't remove it.

Any ideas????

i don't know what to do about a broken tail (i had rats but they never broke anything thank goodness, even if some died of tumors)
but with the wheel, if you can't remove it, you could use a wire to tie it down (put wire from outside of cage , through cage and wheel, around a bar and back out and twist wires together).
or get a seperate cage without wheel for the accident prone rat.
i took the wheels out of my cages (they were not attached) because only one of them would use it (and i ended up with a LOT of them)
