this is Thamnophis eques obscurus from Lake Chapala in Mexico, one of the most beautiful of Thamnophis species. Very rare in collections wordwide

Nice snakes, though I have to say these don't particularly tug at my heartstrings. I much prefer the very red ones someone posted (might have been you, Joe) some time back.

lol yep that was me and i understand what your saying the red coloration is beautiful...but very hard to compare with this type of beauty cuz its so different
