Spring was an adult female T. purpureus. She was very pretty, and quite calm for a Tap. She had a sore that almost looked like a scab on her abdomen, we posted a picture of it on the boards. We got a couple of responses saying that she might moult out of it. She didn't. It wasn't as big after her moult, but it was still there.
Last night Matthias noticed that she had flipped to moult, and we were concerned. We were right to be, she didn't make it through.
My poor little girl. I love you baby, and I'm going to miss you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aw, sorry to hear that. Condolences to you.

I did take a few minutes to go look up pics of this sp in the gallery--how gorgeous! I'm glad you called my attention to it (I'm such a noob) but sorry it had to be this way...

Oh, sorry, Mina. She deserved better. I guess the key is we love them and they go out happier than when we got them. Loving them the way most of us do is a sweet thing. I know you care about them, you sweet T lover you.

Thank you. Yes, they are lovely. Just be warned, anything in the Tapinauchenius genus is FAST! In my personal opinion, Taps and S. calceatum are among the fastest Ts available in the hobby. Luckily, the Taps don't tend to be as defensive as the calceatum. So do keep that in mind if you are considering one.

:( :( :( :( :( Sooooo sorry Mina! I feel your pain. I just lost my P.Lugardi adult female to dyskinetic syndrome this week. It sucks losing a T that you've had for a long time. I hope you are going to be okay.

Best wishes,

-Jake:eek:

sorry to hear about her. :(

my t. blondi went through 2 molts trying to repair a nearly ruptured abdomen. she passed away during the third molt.

ones like that always have a special place in your heart.

Thanks for the heads-up--I am indeed acquainted with only a relatively few spp of T's thus far. I am learning that there are some I will probably only appreciate vicariously! (Taking into consideration not only the T's temperament but my own as well...)
