Just got told by my gf that my first crested gecko got killed by my friends cat earlier today...ugh.
I left my geckos for her to take care of while I'm out of the country. Poor little guy, he was the first crested I had, 2nd vert next to my tokay. Man...I hate cats.

poor little guy. :(

one of my cats ate my juvie female greenbottle blue tarantula a couple years ago. i was so mad at him, but in the end it was all my fault and he was just being a cat. it'd be like getting mad at a snake for eating a mouse.

did he accidentally escape from his enclosure or something?

Not that I know of, my gf said the cage was closed tight in the morning. I know it is the whole predator prey thing, but it got worse when I got in a fight with her afterwords because she thinks her cat would *never* do a thing like that and that my pets are safe around her cat even though her cat has tried chasing the geckos and chased around one of my roaches that got out while feeding my Ts.

Yeah my cat ate my new E. rufescens AND my first pede. It sucks but as it was said, they're just being cats.
Explain to your girlfriend that you know the cat wasn't being "mean" or anything and just exhibiting natural kitty behavior. Maybe letting her know you aren't angry with her or the cat and that you understand the nature of kittydom will keep her from being defensive.
