I returned home from work today to find my little G. rosea friend upside down on a molt mat.

It's a little dry in my room - should I get her some wet towels or something to help with the molt?

No, leave her be. I'd offer some water (in a dish depending on size) after she finishes, but that aside just leave her alone.

On an unrelated note, what's the weather doing up in Houghton?

Pretty calm and clear right now, but cold. Heater is running almost non-stop, so my room gets quite dry.

Yeah, it's the same where I'm from weather wise. East Lansing is a bit nicer at the moment though, relatively tolerable compared to the winters at home. As far as being dry in your room, Roseas like it dry dry dry. With a molt, what matters is internal hydration, not external, so at this point if the molt has started all you can do is leave her be and provide water when she finishes. I'd use a bottle cap if shes a sling, perhaps something larger such as a peanut butter lid if she's bigger. The general rule of thumb is to use a water vessel that the T can span with it's legs and isn't so deep as that the T could become submerged. Take pics when she's finished, a freshly molted rosie can be quite pretty!

Will do! Thanks for the molt insight, too. I've read up on what a molt requires, but this is my first one and I was a little nervous given conditions.

Since you're in East Lansing, I assume you're a Spartan - please please PLEASE pound the heck out of Northern this weekend in hockey. My Huskies are likely going to get creamed by UND to end the season, and I'll never hear the end of it from my NMU friends if you don't beat them and advance to the Joe.

Yes, I am a Spartan. I'd love for us to beat NMU this weekend, but I can make no promises. For being defending national champs with a largely returning team, we've been extremely up and down this year. Such is the way with Spartan athletics.....:wall: Doesn't mean I don't bleed green though. Oh, and no worries about the molt info, we've all been there at one point.

She doesn't seem to have broken out much yet.

It's dark and I don't want to turn on the lights, so all I can see of her is with my little black light LED keychain.

I saw her at home on my lunch break at 4:30 and she was upright. I returned from work at 7:30 and she was upside down. It's now 1:09 Eastern and I'm heading to bed.

She made it!

She looks a little exhausted, but I can't say I blame her.

Now to get her some fresh water.

Now that she's recovered...pics!

Tough to get Casa de Quinne light enough to take good pics, but I did what I could...

Even though the pics aren't that clear, they're still great. She's got awesome coloring on the carapice, and you can actually see the striping on the knees, which is sometimes hard to do. Great lookin T!

Yeah, they aren't the greatest, but they're better than what I had. I blame a combination of poor lighting around Quinne's tank + crappy camera that can't shoot up close + hands shakier than George W. Bush at a coke party. (I'm just naturally high-strung, hence the username.)

Pretty

People give roseas a bad rap. They are realllly attractive t's especially right after a molt. She is positively sparkly!

My Rosie is still molting, she's in her clay pot, so I can't see much! It's driving me nuts. Seems to be a popular molting time for them! She isn't moving at all. Are they supposed to squirm.... <----first molt with a T.
