Do T's (specifically rosea :p ) always develop a bald patch and then darkened abdomen (or vice-verse) in premolt, or only if they have flicked hairs?

No, bald spots are usually an indicator of stress and usually won't happen if the T is left alone and is happy...so with that in mind you'll only notice the darkened abdomen if it has a bald spot. It is not something they naturally do before they molt

Bald spots are also caused by flicking hairs.

True, and as stated they are not an indicator of an impending molt.
