So as some may know i am a proud new owner of a dog. well, i have yet another question for you all.

our dog Chloe is pushing 7 months. she has lost a few teeth(2 that we know of) one being a back tooth, and the other her baby canine tooth. she lost her baby canine tooth on the left side about a month ago, and has yet to loose the other side. is this normal? or is there a chance it wont come out naturally(like its stuck?)

i have recently started to brush her teeth too, her breath was starting to smell like rotten meat(im guessing from the all natural food?) it seems to help but not all the way, is there anything else i could do?

Are you SURE she is 7 months? Most dogs by 4-5 months have all their adult teeth.

I would give her more tough things to chew on... hard rubber toys, and bone for teeth cleaning.

Her breath is going to smell like dog breath and whatever you feed her... that is impossible to get rid of completely. You could also give her ice to chew on.. that will help clean out her teeth some.

positive she is 7 months. she was born oct. 29th 2009....she has plenty of chew toys, and it still hasnt came out. i only became concern when my wifes friend(who is a dog fanatic about like you Teal) and she said it may not fall out on its own. it may need pulling she said. as for the breath, i was reading, and dogs breath arent supposed to be foul smelling. not naturally anyway. but thats what i read, no telling how true it is. but since i have started brushin her teeth its gone away.

Smaller dogs tend to have issues with deciduous teeth (baby teeth that never fall out on their own). These are usually removed during spay/neuter surgery. My toy fox female had that same issue. Her adult canine teeth grew in right next to her baby ones and I called her double fang for a while :) Your dog will have to have anesthesia to remove those straggling baby teeth regardless of whether or not she is going to be spayed. Don't leave them in there because they have the potential to cause serious dental defects in the future. I'm glad to see that you're taking the time to brush her teeth, prevention is the key when dealing with doggie dental disease.

I remember Chloe from your pic thread(great pics BTW).Hows she doing other than the teeth problem?I honestly wouldn't know the solution to the teething issue if it bit me where the sun don't shine.

well, we have already got her spayed. she did great, very little scar, and stitches have dissolved about 2 weeks ago.

see i figure im going to give her another 2 weeks to loose this tooth. if it isnt out by then im going to take her back to the vet. i have been giving her bones to chew on(real bones- actually rib bones), and i have also been playing tug of war with her more than usual.

i will update if anything changes.

If you are not too grossed out by it, feed her raw chicken necks. The raw bones are very good at cleaning teeth.
