questions in keeping semi aquatic or pets that requires high humidity? help.

hey guys! I've been thinking of either getting frogs or tribbies..Im planning on putting them in my spider room but I'm really sketched out about getting one since they require high humidity..seems like a perfect breeding ground for mites and gnats and i definitely do not want mites/gnats in my spider room..i asked a couple of people i know who keeps frogs and they told me that having mites on a vivarium is pretty normal in keeping frogs and that isopods only cleans up but does not prevent mite infestation..Someone also suggested to me that i can use a little bit of "prevent a mite" spray on the sides of the tank, but I heard that those are bad for tarantulas..so I don't think im going to be using that lol does anyone here keeps frogs? or tribbies? what do you do to keep mites out? thanks!

I've had tree frogs for years and NEVER had a mite problem.

Mites don't magically appear out of thin air. They need to be introduced into your environment via substrate or other contaminates.

Just be sure to properly sterilize anything you put into your vivarium. Except for the moss, I don't use live plants. I use fake plants, so no problems there.

As for gnats... Well, they do have a penchant for finding their way through screens and into my vivariums. However, they usually get gobbled up fairly expeditiously by the smaller frogs.

@Bill Myers thanks for the response! do you use isopods? what isopods/clean up crew do you use? And also, how often do you clean up your substrate? what i"ve read online seems very inconsistent..some saying substrate would need to be replaced every month to some saying a year..

When i kept frogs and toads, i spot cleaned every day and changed substrate every couple of weeks or whenever i felt it was time to change it just to be safe.
