My wild caught jumping spider successfully hatched 57 slings, who left the nest 9 days ago. I have heard that they can have multiple eggsacs off of 1 mating, in addition to their ability to store sperm. I have also heard they typically only lay eggs in the summer.

It's the end of September. How likely is it that she will lay another eggsac? How soon might I expect one? In a week? A month? Next year? Can she tell it's fall, or will the warmth of the indoors make her think it's summer year round? Can slings be released and survive in the winter? Or would they all just die?

Right now, she hasn't eaten in 4 days, but her abdomen is still pretty big. Is she potentially gravid again? Or just fat, bc I fed her a waxworms for her last 2 meals?

boy were you misinformed. shell lay eggs all year long indoors, for sure. up to 6 clutches, if you got her right after her first mating.
obviously all the babies will die in winter. theyre too fragile to suddenly go right outside. you will need to raise them or send them to a knowledgeable keeper nearby, or ship with a heatpack- also a daunting and dangerous endeavor.

they will lay an egg sac about every 2-6 weeks, usually a month apart. you can extend the time by moving her to a new enclosure, forcing her to get acclimated and make a new nest, but if shes elderly, you dont want to strain her. she will eventually possibly stop being able to make silk at all. for this reason i always save a few enclosures with webbing in them already.

Thanks for answering. She's been a wild pet that's hung around inside my house for a year. I adopted her, bc my new roommate has a cat I didn't want killing her. She possibly mated before she even got into my home.

How long will it take before the slings to need to be separated? I've heard around the 4th instar, but I don't know how long it takes for slings to reach that stage.

I've seen recommendations to freeze an unwanted eggsac, then return it to the spider. Won't that distress her? It seems hard to get the eggsac, without her noticing.

Do you know where to try and find nearby enthusiasts that would want to raise them? I'm unfamiliar with the hobby, so I'm not sure where to look, other than forums like this.

Tell me about it. I have a p audax that I caught earlier this years and it’s already sitting on sack number three. I have no idea what I’m gonna do with the slings cause I certainly can’t raise em

oh god who on earth said to GIVE her murdered eggs back to her?? no no no. even just taking the egg sac can upset her to the point of her no longer eating for several months. nevermind giving them back. no, if you are dedicated to killing the eggs then you should take them as late as possible, to minimize the post broody "depression" phids go through.

i4 is when i reccomend to seperate, yes. it will take 3-4 months.

i can indeed help you find people to raise them, you can message me
