Can anyone tell me why my T will walk the peremiter of his enclosure along the wall and sometimes try to climb the top upside down at night and during the day he will web up between the plant and wall or in a corner instead of his hide? It's concerning me. There is nothing in the enclosure that would stress him out, temp is 81 atm and 42% humidity and its is currently going on 3pm pst. Temp in house is 78 with 46% humidity with constant air flow from a ceiling fan no ac or heater on windows open. HELP!

I've had him in this enclosure since October of last year and only open when it's time to feed because he's so fast. I can water through the holes on top of the enclosure. 17430267547698663944720900801171.jpg 17430268524464105901366649219672.jpg

Normal, but definitely consider ditching that hide for a smaller piece of cork bark and adding more anchor points for webbing.

Everything is normal.

its a captive tarantula.

they climb because they can. In the wild, they probably would walk a bit further, and come back to hide.

how big is your tarantula versus enclosure size?

Ty for the advice, I don't have cork bark will definitely have to go out and get some, but I did take out the massive hide and I added a fake plant and split the real one into 3. Does this look better for him? 17430347027773585324348602926490.jpg

The first month and a half after his fattening cuz he came from a pet store I didn't see this one. Then one day I saw movement in the hide and he was out and there was a molt in the hide lol.

I Think enclosure is too big for it. Thats probably why you are getting this behavior.

that being said, its not bad.

but this tarantula, already being on the smaller side, does not need this much space. It makes a lot of space to control.

if this behavior bothers you, consider something smaller. like half of what you give.

this will help.

its a small tarantula. it doesnt need more then 3xdsl.

i keep all my tarantulas in tight quarters. I tried going big and all, its been all fails.

its possible it liked the hide. Even if it was big.

That's definitely more enclosure than it needs (nice set-up, by the way) at the moment, but it'll grow into it. As previously suggested, adding cork bark would be good; if you partially bury a couple pieces, it'll create an underground "cave," which she'll probably renovate & burrow from. I've got mine set up on a gradient- the end with the buried pieces of cork bark is built up deeper than the other end with the water dish, & mine has created from that a multi-chambered hide complete with her own rear entrance that she'll burst out of to viscously abduct any cricket that happens by, LoL. Good chance that it'd make more use of its underground with such an access point.
