has anyones male eaten the female before? i was breeding funnel web spiders i found while campinf and my male ate the female after they did there work...... i was sad but didnt really care
I'd say from the lack of responses, the answer would generally be "no". I think I've seen a couple of entries in John Hoke's (www.e-spiderworld.com) breeding records where the female was found dead in the enclosure after a male was introduced. I've had a female G. rosea recently injured in a cohabitation set-up but I've never had one killed by a male.
From all I've ever seen females will sometimes munch a male but for a puny male to tackle an adult female not a chance. Adult males are not only smaller but tend to have two things on their mind mating and running like hell.
