Hey all. I was just wondering...this morning before going to work, at about 3am, I went to clean some snake crap out of one of my boa's enclosures. He's usually a bit hesitant with me because it seems that every time he's out for a handling session he gets injected with antibiotics or cream gets put on him or something.
Anyway, I reached in and he went berzerk on me. Struck but missed, thank goodness.
Is this because they hunt at night? He knew it was me, he smelled me, but went nuts anyway.
Thanks!

Probably a given that you didn't handle a prey item - right?

How old and what kind of boa?

Sounds normal for the young of some "nippy" species.

No, I hadn't handled anything. He was visibly pissed off.
He's a BCI, and I'm guessing about 2-3 years. Six foot. I think he's just getting angrier and angrier at being messed with because of all the uncomfortable medical attention he's getting.

You're probably right - BCI's are normally really docile.
