For those of you who attended Sunday's spider party. What was the species name for the Costa Rican T that was in the big flowerpot cut in half? The kritter keeper it was in was the large size, and had a black lid. The T wasn't too happy when one of the guys stuck a popsicle stick in the flower pot. I can't remember what it was, all I remember is that it was a Costa Rican something. Maybe Aphnopelma seemanni? :?

Yeah, i didn't really get a good look at it. The T was more interested in staying hidden during the whole party.

Bry, are you talking about one of Marcus's T's? I think that was B. angustum? I think those are actually a Guatamalan species. Anyhow, I recall Marcus telling me that one definitely had an attitude problem. Black KK enclosure too. THink that's the one?

They look a lot like B. vagans.

I'm not sure who the T belonged to. I thought I remember reading the label that it was a Costa Rican of some sort. Can't remember. I think you're right, it was probably one of Marcus' T's. It was one of the few cages that had labels on them. Now I wish I had paid more attention to the species. :)

Hehe, yeah, that avic rocked. Do the a. avics typically get as big as her?

By the way, I just looked at a price list (gee, I wonder why), and the Brachypelma angustum is also known as a Costa Rican Red. Now I remember that's what it was that was at the party.

You're right Bry. I did some looking about and although initially I found them labeled (on a dealers list as well) as a Guatamalan sp., I have discovered that they are more commonly referred to as "Costa Rican Red". Apparently they have an extensive range though.
Either way, I don't balme you for wanting one, the pics of them I have seen on-line are pretty nice. Be sure to let us know if you pick one up.

See ya.
