I have heard alot of people down there use the term "palametto bug" but to me they look just like regular old roaches is it a fancy slang word for roachs?
I have also heard them called "water bugs" too.

thanks,
John

Palmetto bugs are synonyms for the American Cockroach we have here.

Water bugs are different, but it wouldn't surprise me if they are also called palmetto bugs or something of that nature by people who aren't familiar with insects.

Hope this helps.
