Hi Guys! As you know i'm getting 2 Bearded dragons tomorrow, They are 10 weeks old and are from the same batch. Now my query is...does it matter if they are both male as the shop can not tell there sexes. And they told me that because they are being brought up together it won't matter and they should'nt fight. Is this true? if i do end up with 2 males, Will this be a problem when there older?. Preferably i would like a male and female. or even 2 females would be o.k but if I can't tell what sex they are now? What do i do? BTW, Spike is felling alittle better and the vet has given him the all clear from parasites, He's still not eating a lot but he's eating enough

If they are still young chances are that the pet store got them from one breeder from the same clutch ergo they will be brother-brother, brother-sister, or sister-sister breeding these together isn't the best practice. Your best bet would be to find out the sex of these two and then buy two more from a different source to have 2 bloodlines and 2 breeding pairs:)

I suspect two males may fight regardless of whether or not they're brothers. They may have to be housed seperately when they get older & larger.

two males do tend to get along if they are raised together and never have contact with a female.

unfortunately, it will be hard to tell the sexes for a few more weeks at least...

well i bought 2 (i actually bought 3, but one died ) and they were from the same batch, (they were also the weakest ones, got beat upon by the others, leading to tail nops and a few missing toes). they get along fine, did so since i bought them.
they are about 16 months old now, and just about 2-3 months ago they started to fight occationally (3 times ). but as far as i can tell one is male and the other female (one is smaller, gets the dark beard and bobbs his head, the other stays light bearded and waves at the other). all i do when they start fighting is seperate them for a while.

Hi Guys! Wow thanks for the replies! I am pleased to tell you that today we got 2 baby Bearded Dragons! Snoppy & Peanut!. They are gorgous! and very funny!. Snoppy is very lively and wants to know everything! And Peanut is very shy and more relaxed. I'm sure that will all change once they've settled in. These two are from the same batch and have been living together. We also saw Mum & Dad, Mum is a normal silver phase and Dad is a golden Phase, The Female is pregnant again!.

Before i bought them I had a long chat with the guy and Also took a good look at the beardies before deciding which ones to get and these two were together so I chose them.

Watching them today, I would say that Snoppy is the boss beacuse little Peanut seems to catch all the crickets and Snoppy gave Peanut a dirty look and bit Peanut's beard!. But everythings o.k. I am going to watch them carefully. Anyway here's a picture of them. A definate 10/10 for Cuteness!
