Hi all! I have about 8 jumping spiders of various ages and species and I have two stinky puppies. I’d like to use a plug in Pura in my living room and bedroom. I have 750sqft house and my bedroom is in the back of the house. The kitchen/living room are open concept. I have the spiders in enclosures in kitchen but not near the diffusers or plugs but I want to make sure they’re okay. I have a humidifier for them and a very strong air purifier going next to them as well. Will this suffice?

If the spiders are not near the Pura unit, they should be fine.

My girlfriend sometimes burns candles in the house, so I shut the door to the spider room. Same goes when I do a deep clean in the house. It is very important to isolate them in these scenarios.

I wouldn't do this.... The first questions anyone asks when a T with symptoms is posted

Do you use any air fresheners or scented products?

Correct me if I'm wrong, this is a diffuser? So it spits out water with the scent? And you want to add a humidifier to help give the scent more particles to travel on/disperse?

Unless the humidity in their room will be 0% (and it wouldn't, without external machinery) why wouldn't they be at risk?

I saw your other post about flies. So flies and smells, are you painting because the smell has permeated the walls?

Dogs are less sensitive to essential oils but they are not unaffected and there are some that are not safe for them either. But if I had to venture a guess, they are the problem and it's not being addressed in a timely manner.

Your house and clothes will just smell like that plus what you try to mask it

I doubt they are real essential oils and are actually synthetic chemicals...I'd be worried about gassing my house with endocrine distruptors...and fumigating and painting...every living creature could probably use some fresh air in there.

How many dogs do you have?

Thanks for info. Yeah it seems candles and chemicals. I have natural clean/green soaps and hospital grade disinfectant with little to no smells. I rarely burn candles but if I do, I’ll move them. Like I said I have a couple of powerful hepa levoit air purifiers next to their enclosures too.

My allergies and puppies who would think it’s food wouldn’t quite work…

Wow such aggressive response and questions to my question.

1. Diffuser is only in bathroom not near spiders
2. Other is just like a glade plug in but higher quality & clean/green/PFAS free/nontoxic ingredients. No endocrine disruptors. It would take some time for it to reach equilibrium and its concentration wouldn’t be overwhelming.
3. It’s not that smelly, but potty training a puppy can smell. No, the walls aren’t saturated with anything - it’s a decor upgrade. I have two puppies so messes happen.

4. I’m very aware of the essential oil issues for all pets, and why the diffuser (which is ultra sonic) is in the bathroom ONLY, where no pets are allowed.

5. Since you’re clearly cool with judgy, unsolicited dialogue, maybe check your energy before responding to random posts - I appreciate that you’re expressing concern, but not everyone on here is an idiot who needs explanations on everything.

You wanna sound smart, please sound-off elsewhere - we are a bit nonplussed here, TBH.

Energy is harsh enough in 2025.

I care more about animal safety than your feelings.

Hydrogen peroxide is a very effective cleaning agent for organic matter. It works so well that it can negate cat pee, which is way worse than dog urine. It will bleach your skin so wear gloves but it breaks down into water. To be most safe, waiting until it's dry is best but it degrades very quickly when exposed to light.

A quick Google search revealed this.

There are plenty of sad stories here,, but if you won't acknowledge any of those comments left I assume you wont search to verify.

I would be worried about it personally.

You assume a lot of things incorrectly and whether or not you’re a man, woman, or nonbinary, you’re mansplaining peroxide. Please get off of my thread now.

Well aggression is subjective apparently and it was to me. In appreciate positive advice and considerate exchanges - not keyboard jockeys with an attitude.

fcat's response was not at all aggressive, and we appreciate people who know stuff here.

I suggest you read the forum rules.

You literally called me an expletive and "mansplaining" is an offensive word... why do you even bring up gender unless it is an attempt at an attack. Abusive language. It is not relevant to this conversation or this forum. Completely inappropriate for a forum that is supposed to be family friendly source of information.

I didn't report it yet because I wanted you to have an opportunity to show us your character.

Why not just use the term "explaining"? We're all here to help...
