I'm wondering if someone could give me some input/reassurance.
I have 8 Psytalla horrida assassin bugs, and last night I noticed one (subadult) was just sort of dangling by a couple of its legs from the top of the tank mesh. It wasn't in a moulting posture. I helped it down but it was sluggish and not very mobile. This morning I found it on its back and thought it was dead, but when I flipped it over it does still move but seems very weak. Can they just randomly die sometimes?
I keep them in a tank with coconut husk substrate, cork bark to climb on and feed them crickets and mealworms. I recently changed out most of the bark as it had gotten smelly so it's all relatively fresh. I keep them at room temperature which right now in the UK is pretty warm and we'll within their range. I'm just worried I'm doing something wrong.
I know they're bugs and sometimes things can go wrong before they reach adulthood but I had read they're a pretty hardy species and rarely fail to reach adulthood in the correct conditions. I have 3 others that have recently moulted to adulthood but I'm really wanting the rest to all make it.
