So after almost 2 years now I caught this little dwarf out of it's burrow for the first time.

I snapped 2 photos of it. The first one is trash as usual was low light.

I purchased this about 1/8 maybe just slightly bigger on 2/16/2020. It is just a little over 1 inch dls.

For all the Pseudhapalopus sp. blue owners does this look on track with yours?

This little guy is completely fossorial. This is the first time I've seen it out of it's burrow in almost 2 years time since last.

Hi
I don't own this species but have its cousins Pseudhapalopus sp colombia.
Mine are 2 years and a month now all between 2.5 -3 inch but I never gave them a chance to burrow deep and the enclosures have been on the small side all the time to keep an eye on them. I think I rehoused them 4-5 times up to now and maybe will give them a little more room depending how much size they put in next moult cycle. They have hides to chill in and cover tho so they are not stressed They have been eating well but are very slow growers.
Regards Konstantin

This is one of the two I purchased at an exotics show back on 2/16/2020.

I purchased a .5 inch G. pulchra from a dealer I never heard of but mainly sells geckos.

That G. pulchra is now a 5 inch dls mature male Nicaraguan T. albopilosus, lol.

The P. sp blue I purchased from what I believed to be a reputable local breeder. However they came under some scrutiny I think it was last year or the end of 2020 can't remember.

I posted out here been quite some time ago on other P. sp blue owners if they would post photos of theirs around amount of time they had it. Mine didn't look anything like theirs.

Their P. sp blue's were terrestrial not fossorial. So my little dwarf here has puzzled me for quite awhile.

I have kept it for almost 2.6 years now. It is roughly 1 1/4 inch dls 1.5 inches would be pushing it.

Thank you for sharing info on your P. sp columbia I've always liked that tarantula as well.

I've also got P. sp. Colombia, I've only had it for about 3 months. It was around 1/3" DLS when I got it, it's molted twice (moist recently just last week), and it's now around 3/4" DLS. Decent size gains when it molts. Mine has a small burrow dug, but spends most of it's time on the surface and only retreats to the burrow when I disturb the enclosure. Interesting that yours tends to be so fossorial... Anyway, hope this helps.

I find close similarities between the sp blue and the sp columbia.

In the link scroll down to what @viper69 says about his sp columbia.

Now here is an interesting tidbit. When I purchased my P. sp blue, sp columbia was not even around. Two to three months later sp columbia suddenly emerged being offered by top online dealers/breeders.

I remember because I wanted one. I did speculate that sp blue and sp columbia could be the same species but different color variations from different areas in Columbia as neither have been officially identified then or currently.

It was just a curious thought.

My puzzlement with my sp blue is where I bought it from, an exotic show that was chaotic. I bought two T's there one was misidentified confirmed and the other, the sp blue I've been suspecting is not so blue.

Everything @viper69 said fits my sp blue to a T, (no pun intended). However after 2.6 years and being strictly fossorial and only 1 1/4 dls in size leaves some questions.

I bought a 1" P. sp blue in March 2021. I'd say it's about 2" now. They def. love to dig and spend a lot of time in their burrows. Mine comes out quite a bit though, especially at night. I think they are just stunning and def. don't get the attention they deserve

That is a very nice looking sp blue. So yours gained 1 inch dls in size over one year, interesting.

Mine looks nothing like yours. I know growth rates vary. Mine was 1/8 maybe slightly larger but definitely not 1/4. The local dealer at the exotic show sells his slings around 2nd instar sometimes 3rd.

Puzzling is my sp blue looks like a sling, coloration wise. I have raised it from a speck for 2.6 years and completely fossorial.

I am extremely curious what it will look like in another one to two years as it is only 1 1/4 inches dls. That is if I can see it from a side view in it's enclosure against the side of it's enclosure.

Mine makes new tunnels all the time and will make an opening to the surface every once in a while and in different locations. It is strictly fossorial.

One thing is for sure my sp blue gives a new meaning to slow growing. It might max out at 2 inches in another 2 years.

Thanks for sharing that info on yours with me, it is very helpful.

I have a P. sp. Colombia. He (assuming) arrived August 12, 2020 at about 1/8 inch. He's currently about 1 and 3/4 inch and has full adult colors, all shiny gold and purple. Always digging, definitely fossorial but tends to wander around in the early morning hours, and a very good little hunter. No sign of emboli yet, and he tends to molt underground where I can't get at the molts, so I don't actually know whether he's male or female. Actually pretty fun to watch because he has a tendency to build his tunnels along the side of his enclosure, where I have a good view inside.

Nice, your T closely relates to mine as it does the same thing and growth rate is on par.

The only thing my sp blue doesn't do is come out of it's burrow in the morning.

Thanks for sharing that info. It's difficult for me to contain myself to wait another year to see if my sp blue gets any adult coloration.
