OK one of our UK shops have in a new psalmopoeus sp, sp "Black Orchid ", but I am having problems finding info it, says on the shop info they come from Panama but has little info apart from that . Anyone got any info on them? They are rather expensive and I want to make sure I have everything right before I buy one.
My questions;

What's the max dls?

Do I keep them like other psalmopoeus? I have 5 sp in this genus and they all seem to enjoy a similar set up.

Are they the same as the sp "Black" just with a more creative name from the seller ? (This shop is known for giving new sp random names)

Anyone have an adult specimen pic? I don't always trust sellers pics they like to jack-up the colours.

If anyone can help with info on these I would appreciate it.!

I don't think they're the same thing, that thread contains just about all we know about them so far it seems.

The thread linked below by @Gilligan has pics of my little MM P. sp. "Panama", which is what he was labeled as when I got him, but the common name provided by the seller was "black orchid". So, we think they're probably the same...

All that said, it seems like they may be around the same size as reduncus (some even think they're a local variant of reduncus), and yes - keep them the same way as all the others in the genus.

There must be more, everyone is using the same af pic, it's like the Tliltocatl albopilosus ometepe island all over again where that one pic of the blue curly was all anyone had n it turned out it was a freshly moulted mm lol . Someone somewhere must know more . Who collected them ?
Is it likely they could be captive bred like the shop says or is there a chance they were just hatched in captivity not bred ?

Thank you 😊 I did see your little male he really reminds me of the victorii tbh and is one of the reasons I knew they were worth the price , he is so handsome puts a big smile on my face just off seeing a pic , I need some of that gorgeousness in my life lol 😆

N while your here do you know my about sp "Black" ? My friend over there managed to get a sling and asked the seller about them seen as no other shops seem to have them, seller said the mother was wc in Ecuador but gravid and the sac came from Europe but didn't really have any other info and I was curious if you knew anything about them or had seen them for sale near you ? I know America is huge (obviously 😆) and what sells in one place may not be in another so i thought it might be worth the ask 🤷🏻‍♀️. The sling came from spider shoppe.

This girl doing all the work for me, lol!
I think we can surmise that the sp. Panama and the sp. Black Orchid are the same. According to the sellers website, the little sp. Black I picked up is not the same and is possibly alquitran.

Some ppl are worth putting the time in for 😉
N yes I think that's the general consensus. Sp panama n black orchid are the same n sp black n alquitran are possibly the same. But have a feeling this may be as far as we get, now to research sp panama n alquitran n see what that says 😆 I can't help myself 🤣

Yes, that seems to be all anyone knows at this point. It would be wonderful to be able to help keep both of these in the hobby, but that might be hard of we still don't know what they are.

I found an sp black and a black orchid months ago for sale. It is very confusing if there is or not a difference between the black and black orchid.

I try to stay away from undescribed species.

I am sure you know already but black colour form P met is just a really old P met as the females turn black when really old. I have seen it happen many times in the years I have kept them. If you bought a 'black' P met, be lucky to get one or two moults before old age takes her to spider heaven.

This is what happens when Ts hit the hobby BEFORE science does
I actually have and I know this comes off as weird considering what I love to keep, but lots and lots of nw spider's I've stayed away from like pamphos and such.
Tbo it sucks. To not be able to nail down what it is unless coming from whoever?
It's killing me kinda I have stuck with Avics and vagens, limited experience with anything else.

Psalmopoeus is my I gots to have nw .so gots to have.

The Psalmopoeus genus should be on every experienced keeper's list. One of my favorite genus.

I missed my opportunity on Psalmopoeus pulcher when they were everywhere. Now not so abundant. Also missed my time just recently on some cheap P. victori.

The timing of when I need to buy vs when I'm ready is absolutely off sync.

My goals in keeping in the long term. I have mainly asian spider's and h.macs most everything aborial. Any male's I have that turn up I'd like to be able to pass on good genes to other breeders. It's a nightmare to know what I have and to be honestly find the person to take them. Not to mention I'm a total amateur compared to most.

Not hit the pokies yet. That is most certainly coming. If you can deal with any at all Phormingochilus.. pokies will be a breeze.

That's alot of my problem is trying to find an experienced breeder locally to me. Then finding one that is interested in what I have for a pairing.

I refuse to ship any adult T out of state or shipping period. For one I have no experience in packing an adult T.

Slings I can figure out as I've had them shipped to me. Adults I'm too worried about them not surviving the shipping process no matter how well they are packed.

I have zero experience shipping an adult spider or sling. Close to me as in a state or two away and whatever I think I'm comfortable with doing.
