Looking for some quick advice, my N. Incei sling just arrived and I got two free ones with it and one is a Psalmopoeus pulcher, I didn't ask for these freebies and this is my first arboreal, I never intended on getting into arboreal T's if I'm honest.

So thanks to the surprise I'm not that well prepared, the sling is very small from what I can see so I hope a deli pot with a piece of vertical cork will suffice for a sling? this is the pot...

Feel free to add anything regarding care etc...

use arboreal setup with at least 4-5 x the size of the spider in vertical space, make sure it's well ventilated (use cross ventilation), and a small water dish.

got them all sorted anyway, I also got a free Nhandu chromatus too and it's absolutely tiny, the only enclosure small enough is the pill box...

I'll also be honest and say I made a bit of a mistake with the pulcher, thought I was being careful but as I was taking out the tissue (I was using tongs) it bolted out and onto my finger faster than I could react, this was my first experience with a T bolting on me, no harm done in the end but I'll be more careful the next time, maybe leave the vial in overnight...have to say I'm not a big fan of working with small slings, everything is so small and delicate makes everything awkward!

I keep mine in smaller enclosures than 32oz, but keep in mind Psalmopoeus are faster growing and have a nasty bite for a nw, so 32oz should hold you over for a little while. They are awesome though, my favorite. I think Moran has a recent YouTube video covering them if you want a quick overview.

Unfortunately didn't have a 32oz or couldn't find any in any of the shops but I managed to find something, it's smaller but the T is very small so It'll work, also picked up something for when it's a bit bigger too so all good.

You should be good. I keep mine in smaller enclosures, then medium and then hopefully a final one. For me personally I don’t mind the rehousing, just gives me experience and based on T size I have adequate room to work safely when doing maintenance stuff. If I had one crazy one I’d most definitely upsize sooner. Suckers are fast.

I’ve heard others say they burrow as slings, but I have yet to see any of my six psalms burrow. Mostly on the bark until I disturb them. The cambridgei is the exception, that one mostly hides right now.

For slings/juvenile I keep the substraight slightly moist and water dish if they fit in the enclosure. Otherwise I just put water drops on the bark.

While they are arboreal you will most likely find yours gravitating towards the lower part of the bark for home base and venture out to sit on the bark higher up chilling. When spooked they tend to run down vs up. Just give the enclosure a slight tap or move to let it know you’re there and most likely should run into issues with it bolting out...but just be prepared in the event it does. I’ve yet to have any of them bolt on me when I have the lids off my enclosures.

Where the hell is everyone finding deli cups?????

Every store I go into never has deli cups. I even ask the store employees and they have no clue.

I guess just another item I have to order online.

Thanks, much appreciated I can never find any anywhere by me.
You gotta get your hustle right and hit up the deli market in a grocery store. Ask them if they‘ll give you a few extra if you buy something like 32oz of potato salad, Mac n cheese or whatever.

8:00am she is completely out. She is moving her legs all around and she is black like a G. pulchra. She's not a pulchra just describing the black.

Waiting for her to right herself up.

Tried taking a photo but the angle I can't get a photo that shows her good.

Id rather it was larger, be easier to work with, getting it out of that tiny vial was incredibly awkward, literally no room to coax it out and I was also conscious of not hurting it too.

When I purchased my Pseudhapalopus sp. blue when I was starting out there were several things I was not aware of when purchasing from an exotics pet show.

1. No idea it was 1/16th of an inch in size.
2. It was Fossorial
3. Growth rate is by far the slowest I have ever witnessed.
4. That it is a dwarf species, I'm still not 100% on the dwarf but seems to jive with the size gain after all the molts and there has been alot.

The best way I did rehouse was to get a small container. Place the current and new enclosure in this. Lay current enclosure on side and extremely gentle start emptying the contents out, extremely gentle.

1/16th of an inch let alone 1/4 is not for new keepers to try their hand at. It's possible but not recommended and I can see why.

I successfully have raised this T since February 2020. It is only 1 inch now. I will never do that again and learned some lessons.
1. Know the size/species before ever buying from an exotic pet show.
2. Only buy from a reputable breeder, (if there is any way to tell where there is no recognizable one)

Anyway just my experience.

Planning a rehouse, its webbing up the lid on it's current enclosure which is making maintenance/feeding a nuisance.

Didn't have any 32oz containers but I found something similar, currently it's in the enclosure on the right, what you think?

For the enclosure on the left that you prepared add another leaf or two at the base of the bark where it’s bare. It will help encourage it to web lower. If you have leaf liter or moss add some on top of the substraight so it can use to build its dirt curtains. My two cents.
