Heres a link to a download that allows you to measure your snake from a picture. I used it and it seams pretty accurate. I must say its better than using shed skins, I was way off using that method! ~ Rex

What ever works for you...it is probably the most accurate method, but is time consuming, and stressful for both you and the animal. I've found that the picture method eliminates this.

Glad everyone is enjoying the program. ~ Rex

the method i use is a clear acrylic tube a little larger in diameter than the snake.
once in they cant move backwards and i just put a hand in front of the tube and viola~!
you can measure them in an almost perfectly straight fashion.

I've got two other methods that I use to measure long animals (of course this can only be used on animals that won't try to kill you while you're trying to measure them)

1. Stretch out your fingers. I use the distance between my thumb and pinkie and I quickly go down the animal. Of course the animal must be sorta straight. You just count how many of those lengths. Like 3.5 or something. After that, stretch a measuring tape out and go through it and go along the ruler with that system. It'll give you a pretty good estimate.

2. Simply let them crawl on the floor and get a piece of paper or something and just mark the distance really fast and use a measure to measure it lol. Of course you're trying to measure them when they become straight. I use this mainly for lizards and it works sometimes on snakes and other stuff. You can even use the objects around the house thats already there to help u measure like the furnitures or whatever!

That program is most likely ideal if the animal won't let you get up close to measure it or you can't get them in a straight position.

Later Rex thx though I'll definately use it if I ever have problems. TIME TO GO WATCH TV YAY ITS A MAGICIAN COMPETITION!!! YEAH!!!!!!

Actually I'm not super excited I'm just hyped up on 8 cans of red bull for the midterm... :D

This program is awesome, and I would love to DL it, but I'm having troubles downloading it. Anyone got any instructions lol. I'm not the biggest computer person.

EDIT: Nevermind, I got it. Awesome, thanks for sharing!

I am soooo sad. I worked all night with all that red bull in me and finally it wore off at 5 in the morning and I went to sleep for a little and I woke up at 1PM and I was late for the midterm that I crammed for
