Preserving a solifugid

Anyone know how to do so? I awoke this morning to find my solifugid dead after a mere month. It ate 3-4 crickets daily but noticeably it's abdomen shrunk over time. Alcohol, formaldehyde?

Oh...I'm sorry to hear that.

Yeah, stick it in a babyfood jar (or some other well-sealed conatiner) with 70% ethyl alcohol, often found at drug stores. Isopropyl alcohol will also work as a temporary fix.

Trying to think of what could have been done to keep it alive. Pinks? More diverse diet of arthropods?

Solifuges can also be dried and pinned if the contents of the abdomen are removed and replaced with a cotton ball. The method Horrido mentioned is probably the best way to preserve them though.

I tried, it would only eat crickets and just raise up and "click" and any other prey item introduced. I think it was just at the end of it's life when I got it. It wasn't aggressive when I got it, and slowed as time passed. I will try the alcohol

Yeah, mine gave up the ghost after a month too. He would actually run away from the crickets. It was embarassing.
