Hello all, I am contemplating switching from using crickets as a feeder, to roaches. Is there a certain type that is the easiest or best recommended for first timers in making a colony? And the fodder they are for is P. Imperator and S. Heros if that makes any difference(size, aggressiveness, etc). THANKS!

I've found my hisser, dubias, and lats easy to care for. I like how small the lats are but they are too fast for the dragons so I only use them on slings, mantis, and Vaejovis carolinianus. I prefer dubias but they burrow. The hissers are just pets for now later for T Blondi. Dubias are good if you have a colony of diffrent sizes for a number of things. I feed these to just about everything I have.

B lateralis are good because they reproduce really fast and are pretty small. Also they are very cheap. Could be hard for some scorps to catch, though. B dubia are really easy in the sense that they don't easily escape or survive and they are really big and meaty. Also good and are the large size are Blaberus species (discoidales and bolivensis). That's basically what you have available. Lobster roaches are soft and semi-meaty, but they fact that they can climb glass and plastic is a big turn off for most people.

I use lateralis almost exclusively these days.

Be very careful of using hissers as feeders for T's. They are extremely well armoured and can actually break T.fangs, not to mention they can climb right out of the T. tanks, lol.
Blaptica dubia have a very high meat-to-shell ratio and make excellent feeders for just about everything, reptiles included. B.latteralis is also a very good feeder for T's - but may be able to infest more easily in warmer climates.
Hope you found this helpful. :)
