Hey all, hope you're doing well.

I had posted prior asking for some tips regarding providing water for my B. Hamorii sling, and the responses were super helpful. Wanted to say thanks for that right away!

Now as I'm a first time Tarantula owner, I'm a bit careful with my interaction and husbandry of my sling. To that end, the previous week my sling is refusing food, and still looks rather plump. All good, although the darkening of the abdomen makes me believe the little fella is entering premolt. Although, perhaps it's just fat lol.

I'll attach some photos of the sling, to get some expert opinion on whether this cutie is entering premolt or just well fed.

For reference:
-I try to feed based on abdomen size.
-Previous meal was a larger than usual section of mealworm. (Roughly 1/2 size of the abdomen and carapace, up from 1/3)

(Also note the mealworm chunk in the enclosure. I wanted to attempt feeding for now while removing boluses and changing water)

Nearing premolt? Sure. Still a ways from impending molt...

My assumption was that pre-molt and molting wasn't for a while yet but possibly impending lol.

Thank you for the input.

it's fat enough, if it has started to refuse food i doubt it will need any more food until it eventually molts

the dark median line on the opisthosoma is the heart you can see through the streched cuticle
