Ok. One of my faves - MY lovely P. Irminia molted last Dec 7th (I'd had it for about 3 weeks), and was sold it by a gentleman who stated it was only a juv, and wasnt very old...

Fair enough, it was quite small as well. Anyway, I've never attempted to sex it before - Not quite sure why. I was always under the impression that it was likely to be male (along with a good percentage of my collection unfortunately) due to it's smaller abdomen, and leggier frame.

Well, I've notice for the last couple of days that it has been climbing and wandering more so decided to take a closer look.... Small tibial spurs, and loaded palps!

Wonderful, one of my favourites has been mature for almost 5 months, and I've not noticed, and done bugger all with him!!!! :wall:

So, more to the point, how much longer can I expect him to hold on for? I've just posted on the BTS site looking for a mature female to buy (I'd rather not loan him, and I've always wanted to breed this sp.) but I'm not holding my breath...

How could I not have noticed!!!! :wall:

Also, anyone wishing to p.m. me with any info as to any potential female sources in the UK will be most welcome

My male molted ultimate on 10/28/05. He's still eating, spinning sperm webs and playing with the ladies. I suppose it all just depends on the male. As long as he's spinning spermwebs I think you've got a wonderful chance of breeding him. I've got my fingers crossed that you can find a female.

This has me curious? Some T's it can be very easy not to notice when they mature but the irminia goes through a major color change where they lose there orange and turn gray when they mature so how can you miss that? :? Greg

First, I'd never actually seen a mature male Irminia before, and second, he's actually got a fair bit of orange left in him. Obviously not as pronounced though. Also, it was sold to me (also being the only Irminia I've ever seen in the flesh) as a juvie. It's small and molted only a couple of weeks after I bought it. It was still small then so didnt think anything of it.

Interesting, are you saying still has the orange striping on it's abdomen? Or just the little lightning bolts on it's legs?

Well he's definitely got his lightning bolts :) They quite stand out. And he's indeed still got some striping left on his abdomen. Not a huge amount, but you can still make it out. He's quite pretty, got a nice greenish sheen to him in the light.

I've never really looked at him that closely until today to be honest. Should have really paid more attention and not taken it for granted. I should know better that just beacuse he was small, does not meen he's not mature :wall:

I do like him though. Definitely has character, and not ever shown any aggression towards me. I'll really miss him I've already lost a Blondi this year, and a Petri's Gecko yesterday (I was gutted at that!). My dog max is 11 and has been diagnosed with cancer... This is not a good year for me and pets at all :(

Well, he's managed 5 months. I just hope I can get him a girlfriend before his time is up!
