possible water gel replacement?: hydroton

I wonder if this could be used in place of water gel. It's also reusable, and can be cleaned. Anyone?

if you use watergels to keep RH up then i think that might work


but if you offer water gel in place of water for hydration then i think not





if they weren't expensive they seem like they could be a good additive to substrates. at least a change of pace =P

Is there any difference between this and LECA pellets?

LECA - lightweight expanded clay aggregate, hydroton is a trademark name. They are the same thing.
