I’ve been collecting local isopods here in Northeast Texas, most of them are A. Vulgare but yesterday I stumbled across this guy. He’s bigger than the other A. vulgare and has no coloration. Could this be A. officinalis? I named him Big Chungus

No, the genus Armadillo is strictly circum-Mediterranean. There are a few outliers including a species in California but all of them are almost certainly not actually Armadillo and just misclassified. This is A. vulgare. The triangular telson is unlike the axe head or hourglass shaped telson found in armadillidae and the frontal shield has that characteristic triangular "nose" of Armadillidium.

I believe you are correct, I did some more digging and definitely not A. officinalis. Would have been exciting though! Thank you.

If you're collecting in Texas you may be interested in "rediscovering" several seemingly endemic species. These are Porcellio formosus, grandeus, conchus, and alpinus.
