portable UV LED light w/o battery change... WOOT!!!

i got it on a sidewalk store (Divisoria) it is a white LED flashlight that uses a rechargable battery, but instead of pluging it on to charge you just need some persperation to charge its batteries. then i tried to put 1 UV LED to it so that i dont need to bring out a 12watts car battery and a UV lamp outside when hunting. pics here

heres what it looks like before

then i started dismantleling it and add some wires, another switch for the UV LED and the UV LED.

then just remove the lock on the mechanical lever and start pumping it...

LOL, you just need to keep on pressing the lever so that a magnet or some sort of copper wires inside will keep on moving giving an electric current to the batteries and to the LEDS, so it means that you should keep on pressing the lever for a few minutes, if the batteries are down and if youre going to charge it it will make you perspire (just a bit).

LOL!!! , i got it for $1 (Php50.00) but i doubt that i can find another one, its all sold out by now, cool flashlight too, the white LEDS go up clearly white and you can see things clear for about 2-3 meters, the UV is up to 1-2meters only.

The voltage requirements of a LED vary depending on the type of light produced. White LEDs and UV LEDs both sit around 3V, though, and there is some tollerance both ways. What this means is you should be able to swap out (or add on) UV for White LEDs in any of the available kinetic flashlights. If one were to try to substitute a red LED, however, you would have to include a suplemental resistor in series.

Dave, why are you so darn smart!!? So I guess that anwsers my question that us over here in N.A., could do the same with one of those flashlights that you shake violently to charge? ...if your familar with what I'm talking about... I guess your "red led" comment will put to rest any plans I have for making LED taillights for my car, since I have no knowledge in electrical currents/circuitry.

LEDs are easy. What is not easy is government regulations. You'd have to be very careful that your taillights complied with all laws. You'd be much better off just buying aftermarket LED taillights for your car.

I know we shouldn't get off the scorpion topic, but any after market part that has to do with lighting, usually doesn't meet DOT regulations.. I know of about 5 people online who made their own, "Custom Enterprises" created a verson for the 04-current generation, but I think they look bad compared to custom ones, and how "cheap" they look. With that known, they don't sell them for 00-04 models. Specifically I want the tail lamp to be 5 horizontal lines, with the brake lamp being 4 lines, inbetween each space of each row of tail lamps. I've yet to see my generation car with these lights either, but I haven't search for any for about 6 months..... Can I PM you in the future if I ever try to figure this out??

Also, to not infect this thread.. I assume that what Kahoy did can be duplicated with any led flashlight?

Yes, you should be able to swap out white for UV LEDs. Most other colours you can't, though. To be 100% sure before trying, you can take a multimeter and take a voltage reading accross the two prongs of the existing LED. Compare that to the specs on your new LED and see how close they are. That being said, unless you have some freaky bizarre LED, most UV LEDs are going to run 2.8-3.2V and you want to put through about 20ma.

GF just bought me a really nice UV light, its a special order thing that you can only get through a catalog, her dad is detective so they use those things for crime scenes, gonna test it this weekend...
