i am debating between Orange Porcellio Scaber and Orange Porcellio Laevis. I am wanting a large species but they are similar in size so that isn’t helping me decide.

These are purely pets and will be in their own enclosure.

Aww, now I’m gonna have to call them my little orange tic-tacs.

I really don’t have any criteria. That’s why it’s hard to decide. I just know I don’t want both because they are so similar, so I have to choose. I guess I could make a criteria for whichever one is easier to care for?

Ok well, the Scaber are more versatile and I also got heads on the flip. Twice in a row. So I guess scaber it is! Thank you for your help!

Let me just put in my two cents if you haven’t purchased them yet.
I keep both...P. laevis is more active, larger, more prolific, and glossier in color.
P. laevis is my suggestion.

Well gosh, now I’m back to not knowing. Can you tell me your favorite traits about each species?

P. scaber are great. There are many different color morphs, probably more than there are for P. laevis.

However, I feel like P. laevis are like an improved version of P. scaber. P. laevis are:
More active and bold
Larger
Faster breeders
Glossier colors
More consistent, richer patterning in ‘Dairy Cow’ as opposed to ‘Dalmatian’

Dang! Now I want some P. laevis too! I've got a great culture of orange P. Scabers, and they're fun, but I would love something that's larger and glossier. Thanks for the info! :)

Now that I have Porcellio laevis, I feel compelled to spread the word about how great they are :D
