I think mine dose it on purpose so he can watch me clean it out cuz it sinks and smears to the bottom, i can picture him laughing in his head when he sees me with my discusted look and he watches me take it out

Some of mine do this too. The funny thing is that none of them seem to vary their behavior: I have a T. blondi that does it almost all of the time, but the ones that don't do it never do it. I think it's a compulsive personality trait, in the same way that I tend to sell my blond children on the black market but keep the brunettes and redheads.

Some of my critters do it too. My big old chaco golden stripe does it and then buries her water dish. I don't find it until I've removed most of the substrate while washing out her dish. They sure do strange things! :)

Perhaps a spider's clean instinct is to bab in water, under the impression it'll flow away. I only have two spiders that excrete in their living quarters; P.Murinus and B.Albopilosum

The Avicularias are the worst for crapping, and it stains like hell

You think you got it bad?

My roseie shoves her but up against the glass so that it smears.

I hate that. I have to clean in there every stinkin day man and its a pain in the butt to have to move the substrate so that you can get to it and then of course I dont use any windex or anything like that so you gotta sit and scrub at it.

I would much rather just change the water. :)

Oh I've cleaned out my fair share of poop in the waterdishes from Tarantulas and Scorpions alike.

My B.vagans does this all the time too. It does seem to be a prefered option in some individuals.

I've theorized that they do this thinking they are in the wild and don't want to leave ANYTHING around for to give a clue to predators.

My brown-phase rosie, on her first day at home, walked confidently over to her water dish, turned around and pooped in it, dipped her butt in and out of it a couple of times, then walked over to a leaf and dragged her butt over the leaf. Her name was easy to come up with: Charmin!=D
