Looking good

Hey mate,

nice pics of a good looking spider!

May i ask where you´re located? Some people around here are looking hard to lay their hands on this kind of spider. They´re definately hard to get hold of in europe...

Wait till Steven sees this... ;)

Stefan

Hi again,

Brazil, so you should have plenty spiders which are seeked by many people here. :D

No Phoneutria in your part of the world? What a pitty!

I don´t know anything about the geographic range of Polybetes, as they aren´t my main-subject of interest. I know only about their name and looks and that some fellow-hobbyists here in europe are on the lookout for them.

Yeah, there´s some Loxosceles specs around in europe. Some by nature and some spread by accident (exports) and just lived on here. Loxosceles laeta is quite common to the european market as a "pet"-spider.

Greetings,

Stefan

there is Phoneutrias around here, but i havent see one... yet :D i hope (and pray) for them not find me... sleeping or drunk

i dont live in a jungle (by the way, no brazilian at all do lol), but there is lots of Loxosceles in my home, i found one beside my bed today, when i woke up. in my bathroom there's always 3 ou 4 of them. so pretty. so calm. but i have no patience to catch it to me. it looks a little unfunny, on my vision, of course.

reggards!

very intresting spiders !!! :worship: :worship: :worship:

like Stefan allready said these are hard to find in the European hobby,...
:(

Polybetes are surely not found worldwide,... strictly South-america.
i believe Argentina has the most specie of the Polybetes genus.

do you have any idea on what specie yours is ?

Hi,

in your case, i´d be more concerned about the Loxosceles than about the Phoneutria. Even the so called "aggressive" Phoneutria rather goes it´s own way than attacks if given the choice. With the ever present Loxosceles it´s a different matter...

A bite from a Phoneutria will send you to the doctor in no time, if you´re unlucky, but in nearly all cases you´ll be well again in maximum 3 days. With Loxosceles that´s a different matter, too...

Take good care!

yeah, for sure. but Loxosceles are calm down, do not attack eventhe own shadow like phoneutrias :D except if you press it against any part of your body. a little check in the shoes before put your foot in. i dont know if im used to them, but i have no fear.

hello!

hi, i live in montevideo, uruguay. A few days ago i adopted a polybetes as my pet. but i don't know what they eat. I´m worried about my spider, she doesn´t move much , is it natural? I put her in a fishbowl and there´s too much empty space, I wonder what should I put in order to make it look nice.
please help me

Does it have a hide? I have 2 fem polybetes and they hide all the time during the day.Try to put some flying prey or "persuade" a cricket to climb on the log the spider is (put some logs, they're arboreal and rarely go on the substrate)
