Oh yep it was indeed; in my attempt to rid it of the annoying mites. However I just found that apparently two of the mites survived the petroleum jelly treatment. Therefore I'm going to try using a blunt stick dipped in saline solution to get the mites off. If that doesn't work, I may have to resort to dunking the spider in the liquid. I will do anything to rid the spider of the mites. I couldn't care less if they were the usual grain mites, but these ones are parasitic and can/will kill, as you well know.
