So I found a very badly setup pokie on Craigslist and guided the guy trying to get rid of it to AB but instead he asked me to take it in for free so being myself I decided to take in this spider and give it a better home. I am well aware of the transfers and dangerous and overall crazy speed of this beautiful T. So just looking for any advice right now it was currently in sand substrate and cork bark layed in the ground and never cleaned as it smells like wet dog. I will be putting it into a big cup with holes with a cardboard bottoms and cleaning and setting it’s new enclosure with a lockable latch because of my son and coco fiber and hot gluing more corkbark to the existing to make it taller and adding some fake leaves and a bit of sphagnum moss. It’s in a large éxo terra. Will feed it large supers and Dubias

Yeah, before you do anything, post pics. Of the cage, spider, decor, etc.
I agree, we don't even know the size of the t in question.

OP, keep in mind that although these are arboreal, they're not arboreal like avics and will spend time and even create homes on the ground under things, and even burrow to a degree. So while clutter and plants are still good, just make sure they are at ground level or around the mouth of the cork hole.

They're not exactly super difficult to transfer, they don't tend to be defensive, and while very fast, they aren't all that bolty either. Just give them a place to go and they usually take it.

I'm sure it will appreciate its wet dog home being cleaned of its wet dogness.

Yes will do I won’t put anything so high where it might fall and get hurt I’ll make sure to ground level it when I place the cork bark. I will also take a pic as best as I can of it’s size. He said it used to be in a classroom. And that’s good to hear so it shouldn’t be too hard to get him where I can give him a good setup and yes clean his cages wet dog ness of a smell it wreaks

It is arboreal though, so its really not a concern if t climbs...they're very nimble.
Interesting to have a medically significant species in a classroom, I would expect that not to be allowed.
Okay I understand and yes also my thoughts why they would allow it to be openly available to children of any age but I guess they really didn’t know much.

Absolute trash. Stupid ignorant people.

I made a care sheet for pokies too. You can find under "find all threads" in the posting section of my profile. My internets too slow to go find it and link it, sorry.

Yes very and believe it or not the man told me “ this one shouldn’t be handled as much as others” which makes me wonder how many they’ve had and how many they’ve “handled”. Thank you I’ll read that right now

So this is my deep clean and the best I can do with the supplies I had for tonight tomorrow I’m going to pick up more coco fiber and some fake plants and possibly a second bigger cork bark and some another lock

Does it look like a Poecilotheria Regalis? Looks more like a Poecilotheria Rufilata to me?
