While I want both of these species, I find subfusca more attractive. I'm just curious how many others feel the same.

lol I meant to post a poll, but I forgot to check the box before I hit submit. Anyway, you can still answer the question.

Only the really high contrast ones (subfusca) are that nice...

I'm pretty sure neither in person look as appealing as represented in photos. I love the fact that the metallica is so vibrant and the subfusca is so classy. I'd honestly love both but would prefer the metallica if I had to choose.

Good point, I've yet to see either in person!

High contrast is the 'highland' correct?

I prefer the subfusca over the metallica, personally. I really do like P. metallica, but honestly find it a little garish, like it's a high school mascot or something.

i love the subfusca! but only the lowland color form. tons of purple. and let me say this. p. mettallica are on my "to get" list but there not as blue in person. now the subfusca needs no flash to show its true beauty.

I tend to like high flashy colors like reds and blues so P. metallica is my choice.

The subfusca is an amazingly gorgeous t .WOW, now im interested haha, i would choose the subfusca for myself hands down without a doubt ,.But im all about introducing people and friends to tarantulas and spiders in general and they usually seem to gravitate to the bright ones, and or the pulchras haha. As a nice conversation starter into t's id say the metallica but for myself as a hobbyist the subfusca hands down ,..... damn pokirantulas gotta catch em all

I beg to differ. I think they are just as vibrant and just as appealing in person. I'm more a fan of the P. subfusca when limited to these two species, but there are other pokies that I think are more appealing.

Without good lighting, they look a lot alike. Subfusca is the opposite of Regalis (colorwise). Almost like a picture negative.

i like the Highland subfuscas. metallica's nice, but it's a little too flashy for me.

Mine is as blue as you can get, the pics are duller IMHO

Agreed, my P. metallica's are really as blue as all of the pictures, no need for special lighting. I have noticed some dulling of colors when nearing molt, but a freshly molted one is truly a sight to see!

Formosa needs some love. That species is so underrated. Cream and black stripes, orange hairs, teal feet, and sinister eyes. I the legs are very desireably striped too. Look up some pics and then order one for less than half the price of these two.
