Hi,

I have 4 Platymeris rhadamanthus "Mombo" that had their final molt about a month ago, but I still haven't seen any eggs. I have 2 males and 2 females. I keep them dry with occasional misting, at about 24°C (75°F), and they are eating well. They have about 3 cm (1.2 inches) of dry, loose substrate. Does anyone know what could be the cause for this?

The males are more slender and the bottom of their abdomen is round, the females have a wider and longer abdomen and the underside is flat.

After a very thorough search of the substrate, I found a single egg. Still, shouldn't they have laid way more eggs by now?

Here are some photos so someone can confirm their gender. I'm pretty sure the first one is a male and the second is a female.

I'm thinking either A) They just started laying (eggs usually show up a few months after the first adults molt to maturity), or B) There are many more eggs, you just haven't seen them. They can be very hard to find sometimes.

Thanks,

Ah, I thought they started laying eggs much sooner after reaching maturity. In that case I will wait for some weeks and then do another search. Thanks for the help!

I still couldn't find any eggs the week after this, but then I kept the substrate moist for a week and now I've got at least 20. So if anyone ever has the same problem, that might solve it.
