I got my first Pits not too long ago. They lit a fire under my butt and now I have been getting into this group pretty heavy!!
These guys are from a project Jon Ginter was working in 2006 where he bred a Kankakee locality female to a red hypo male (Stillwater/Kingsville). They came out as light reds het for hypo. The adults would not sit still very well for the photos!
Male Red
Bertha!! Female red....6'6" and 20 pounds
This male and female combo has produced some amazing animals. Here are two:
Fire Bull Female (red hypo). Hope to breed her with the sire of the clutch this upcoming season! Can't say she is my favorite. That position is held by my black head python but she is a close second! Her colors are awesome in person!!
This little male was produced by the same sire but a different dam (not Bertha) from the same Ginter line. Keep going back and forth on selling him. He should color up nicely!
I have also gotten into pines. The pines are what started my addiction to this genus.
First up are black pines. I could only get pictures of the female. The male was moving too much.
Black pines are awsome because they start like this (12" maybe):
And end up like this (5 feet and still young!!)
Mexican lined pines are what started it all for me. I can't wait for these to get big!! They come from adults that were 7 feet so they should get pretty big!!
Male
Female
Oh and pine snakes can be cuddly!! Here is a picture of my female curling up in my jacket sleve....lol!
I also picked up an amazing pair of cape gophers. probably one of the most under-rated in this group. I have a high yellow and a hypo/patternless that both are amazing!! I'll post pictures of them once the female settles in!
