pillbug ID please

hello-

my son found a 'rollie-pollie' with light yellowish spots on the gray. 'Regular' pillbugs are the plain gray ones. We are in So. California.

no pics. any idea what species?

I think its just a variant of the grey ones. I have several colonies of the grey ones and I get a few lighter ones, ones with yellow spots, stripes and all sorts of patterns. All from the same Grey stock.

now it makes me wonder if pillbugs are on the way to speciation (like the varied patterns on ladybugs.)
interesting but not fundable....
