I took a small roadtrip today to Fort Myers to attend the herp show and pick up a few more spiders. After browsing a bit I ran across a tank full of CB Eastern hognose. I should have prefaced this with the fact that I have wanted one of these for quite a few years. I bought the fattest and most colorful one of the litter.
Now comes the fun part, he is not started on pinkies yet so tomorrow I have to go hunting for toads. I think it will all be worth it though, he even does the rear-up cobra act and hisses violently... it's adorable.

Best of luck with him, fantastic looking animals aren't they? Pictures hardly do them justice.

This picture is about 15 years old, but this little beauty, though you can't tell, was purple, black and gray. :} Caught in Brooksville Florida.

I wouldn't mind another one if it weren't for the switching them to toads. I find them around here in a couple different color forms. Sometimes gold and black and sometimes pumpkin orange and black...these look really nice.

Could you post a couple more pics of this little guy?

Hey thanks Tim,
They really are difficult to photograph. My intention with this next photo was to place him on the paper towel and perhaps get a good contrast but he would have nothing of it. The flash ended up washing out all of his colors anyway but here goes (I'll try to get some better pictures outside tomorrow).

I am totally in love with eastern hognose...problem is that with school i dont have time to hunt the toads it would take to feed one (or at least to scent prey to get it started on mice)

Westerns are gorgeous as well but I prefer the eastern coloration
