Here's some updated pics of my two males. Haven't posted pics in a while so I thought I should do it now.

First up, is Mammoth... He's a little over a year old, and sitting at about 6.5". This guys always got such a gentle look to him.

Here be Behemoth. He's another one of my favorites. He's also sitting at about 6.5" and a little over a year old as well.

Hey

Really awsome frogs u have there.
I just bought a little Pyxie myself 2 weeks ago and it is only 4,5cm long.
Dont know what that is in inches :D
About as long as your little finger.

But i ofcause hope its a male like yours, but just not sure.
I think its head dosent look as wide as i have seen other smaller pyxiefrogs had have.
Could u sex yours when u bought them as youngster and how??

Cause from what i have been able 2 find on the net, u can only sex them by there size when the are about the size of yours, and therfore cant be females.

@Pokerplayer: Yep, you have to wait until they are about 4inches SVL (snout vent(butt) length) to sex them. No idea what that is in cm.

Edit:4" = 10.16cm.

Okay....thx Kupo :)

Do u know why his two Pyxiemales looks so different?
Its just like the have different skin.
Could it be because the are from different part of africa maybe??

Cause the last one sure looks more....hmm...bad i guees u can put it.
Its like Prettyboy vs Micky Rouge :D

Oops, sorry I haven't replied sooner then this :) Been busy here lately. Yes, usually about 4" in length is enough to determine the sex of these frogs. Males have a much stockier build to them, and they don't have that cartoonish look that the females develope (TINY head and MASSIVE body).

As far as the difference between them, well, it could be different locals. Behemoth, the bottom one, was a South African farmed pyxie, while Mammoth was a US captive bred. That might have something to do with it, but I always just chalked it up to the fact that they're two different frogs. Sure, same species and all, but still two seperate individuals.

Glad you like these beasties! They're great additions! And I love the comparison that was made between the two :D!

Great looking frogs. I've never gotten pyxies as I dislike the looks of the females very much, but man, pics like this make me wish I had a male.

Haha, I cannot agree with you any more on that part Ren! I honestly despise the look that a female pyxie frog has!
