U all haven't got an ideia of what happened yesterday. Yesterday at night I went out in the dark to go to the bathroom. I oppened my bedroom door and walked to slow steps in the dark e felt something crunchy. I had stepped on a bug. Guess what, it was a Phoneutria sp. Adult male. I've killed it without hurting it to much so i took some nice closeup shots of it. Imagine if i hadn't gone with my slippers, or imagine if had stepped just next to it and not on it. Geez, that was a hell of a scare. And the worst thing, is that i live in a huge city with very few green areas and yet this came from outside the house, like from the garden. Well thank god things ran as smoothly as it could and noone got heart. Well here are the pics.

A couple quick Q's...

This is the Brazilian Wandering Spider, am I right? Where do you live? (I'm guessing back east) ...and do you see these guys much?

Cool pics none the less.

I have to say that spider looks rather well for something that just came from under your foot. Did it die of heart failure :)

True but if it had been my foot it would have died from the smell ;).

Yep its the wandering spider. I live in the south - east of brazil. My house has a large garden and a couple of empty terrains around it. I was talking to the gardener and he said he has seen quite a few of these around. I will have to call someone to clear em out cos this is far to dangerous. The thing is that this spider had been extinct from this huge city special the area where i live.

Damn, I´m looking to hard to buy some of this creepies and you´re stepping on them! Too bad.
By the way, do you know what species this is? I´ve seen males of Phoneutria fera some years ago and they´ve been easy twice as big as this fella. Mostly legspan of course.
Thanks for the pics.

Greetings from Germany,

Stefan
