Hello everyone, I got my jumper in july 2023 and was told she was on her 7th instar. A couple nights ago she started building web around herself which she hasn’t done in awhile and this morning i saw this strange yellow fluid. It looked like it came from her mouth and abdomen. Is this normal behavior for how old she is ?

This was my females last egg sac she layed and as you can tell she was having difficulty webbing. She started to loose it after this cause it was the last bit of energy she could produce.

They reach a point in sexual maturity where they need to lay their egg sac and it could be infertile if she hasnt been introduced to a male. They can hold sperm but its a toss up honestly. It would be a waiting game to see if they become eggs with legs in a couple weeks. Keep an eye on her and just make sure to not disturb her. She will most likly not eat and protect her sac untill they hatch or at a point where she leaves the tunnel. But on a side note, the babies are very small and will be able to sqeeze out of that enclosure. ( dont ask how i know ).. it would be wise to try and move the egg sac into a container with thumb tac sized air holes and a lid with a fine mesh or a one that you decide to poke holes in. You will have about 100 or so young IF she drops eggs. Grab a co trainer that has some space like a dollorstore one that's tall so you can give them all some space. They will cannibalize and it is what it is. Keeping them all together is far more beneficial for your time and theirs. They will be fine all together for the most part but some will grow faster then others and with take advantage of the smaller ones. This is a lot of info that might not be needed but if you haven't had the experience with a flourishing egg sac then this will definitely help you. As a tip, I flipped my container upside down and had the lid as the base and the young grouped at the top for the most part so it was easier to open the container and keep them from crawling out. Then I made a quarter-ish sized hole in the top and corked it with some foam so I could fill fruitflys in with a funnel. If this helps awesome. If you don't I am not offended lol. Hope all goes well! Keep us updated!

Very true. That's why I was on the other side of this being fertile. It could just be an instinct to lay but not have production.

This brings up the possibility of a phantom sac.
