Phidippus audax in SoCal?

642D5992-EDC8-4F64-B019-89BBC06EC884.jpeg Just yesterday I found a large black jumping spider with orange spots on its abdomen. Here, I’ve only ever found the small Sassacus sp. and H. pyrrithrix jumpers, do this big fella was a nice surprise.

Based on what I’ve read, Phidippus audax is the most likely species for Southern California, right? I’m wondering if anyone here knows the species and sex?

Above is a pic of the new critter. I can get more if necessary, so let me know!

Whoa, haha! Nice to hear from you here, as well! But it looks like my identity has been exposed :playful:
And thanks for the answer! Interesting to hear about the abdominal patches. I’ll definitely pay more attention to those if I ever find another.
