Phidippus audax in SoCal?

Just yesterday I found a large black jumping spider with orange spots on its abdomen. Here, I’ve only ever found the small Sassacus sp. and H. pyrrithrix jumpers, do this big fella was a nice surprise.

Based on what I’ve read, Phidippus audax is the most likely species for Southern California, right? I’m wondering if anyone here knows the species and sex?

And yeah, like I said before, I think it's most likely P. audax. Although the colors and markings of P. audax are highly variable, your spider also has the "flat" (not glossy) black patches on the abdomen that are typical of P. audax.

And thanks for the answer! Interesting to hear about the abdominal patches. I’ll definitely pay more attention to those if I ever find another.
