I own two phiddipus audax, a young female and what i think to be an adult male, who is refusing to eat. Its winter now so i have no access to flies anymore, which he loved to eat when they were out, but i started buying crickets around 3 weeks ago, and he ate 1 but since that he ate a fly about 2 weeks ago and has refused to take any food, cricket and waxworm. Hes pretty small but the crickets are tiny so i dont think hes scared, hes mabye just not used to crickets? I dont really know, should i just keep offering them but let him do whatever and trust him? Or what? He seems to want food to be able to fly up by him, but when i hold a fly he takes it, so he should take a cricket, but he hasnt eaten in like 2 weeks so im worried. This is him today and he doesnt look super skinny or anything and hes just as active, but enjoys staying in a little hammock alot. Any ideas? Thankyou! Him and the female are wild caught, he has stayed that size for about 3 months so i think hes an adult, but the female takes all food and is not an adult yet. Hoping he takes food soon.

If the spider is not eating, it is not hungry. The abdomen is a nice size, so a couple days off of feeding will be okay. Remove all prey from the enclosure if the spider hasn't eaten it within 12-24 hours.

Has it created a web and isolated itself yet? Usually when they do that it is a sign that they will soon be molting.

Wait no, don’t prevent him from molting. If he webs up for a while just let him be.
